Privacy

This page describes how the platform currently works. It should be reviewed by a suitably qualified person before launch.

Browsing the site

You do not need an account to browse, filter, read listings or click through to an organiser. We set no advertising or tracking cookies and use no third-party tracking scripts.

Your saved interests

If you tell the search which role and sector you work in, that choice is kept in your own browser’s local storage. We never upload or store it. Searching with it does put it in the address of the results page, the same as any search would, but we do not record the addresses of search results — see below. Clearing it in the site or in your browser removes it entirely.

Usage measurement

We measure how the site is used so we know what is worth listing. We record the pages you view, the webinars you open, the registration links you click and the calendar files you download. Each record holds the page’s address on this site and nothing you have typed — search terms and filter choices are not included.

When you arrive from somewhere else, the first page of your visit also records the host of the site that sent you — “linkedin.com”, for example, rather than the address of the particular page or post you came from — and any campaign tags in the link you followed, which are labels we put on our own links to tell our newsletter apart from our social posts.

To count repeat views without identifying you, each record carries a one-way hash derived from your IP address and your browser’s identifying string. Neither value is stored: the hash is salted with a secret and with the current date, so it changes every 24 hours, cannot be reversed, and cannot be used to link what you did today with what you did yesterday.

No cookie is set for any of this, and no third-party analytics service receives any of it. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, page views are not recorded at all.

We delete these records after 12 months. A daily job removes anything older, so nothing here accumulates indefinitely.

Newsletter

The newsletter is run for us by Beehiiv, an email platform. When you sign up, your address is passed to Beehiiv along with which of our forms you used; Beehiiv holds the subscription and processes your address on our behalf. We do not keep a copy of it.

Beehiiv sends you a confirmation email, and you receive nothing else until you click the link in it. Every email after that carries a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing and any later request to be removed are handled by Beehiiv, and we do not add anyone back who has unsubscribed.

The only thing we keep is a one-way hash of your IP address, used to stop the form being abused and deleted within a week. It contains no address and is not linked to a subscription. We also still hold the sign-up records of people who subscribed before we moved to Beehiiv, which include an email address and the evidence of consent given at the time; ask us and we will delete yours.

Submissions and requests

If you submit a webinar or send a correction request, we store what you provide so we can review and respond to it, along with a one-way hash of your IP address used only to limit abuse of the form. Webinar submissions also record your browser’s identifying string, which helps us tell a person filling in the form from a script filling it in repeatedly.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Use the contact form and we will respond to you there.
